Cute. That's one word that comes to mind when describing beeswax tealight candles. But they are quite functional, too.
In spite of their small size, they will usually burn for many hours. And while they may not have the natural elegance of taper candles, tealights have their place.
In fact, for many uses, the short, squat shape of tealights makes them ideal for many situations where longer candles wouldn't be as suitable - or even as safe.
While mainly used now for the cozy ambiance they provide, tealights originated as a working candle, not as a pretty plaything.
That's because they originally were used, quite literally, as 'tea lights,' providing tiny fires that kept tea toasty in teapot warmers or kept food on the table from getting cold.
As with all beeswax candles, be sure to choose beeswax tealight candles with natural wicks, free from the lead and other hazardous substances that are found in some types of candle wicks.
