Find Your Friendly Neighborhood Honey Bee Farm if You Like GOOD Honey!
Use our directory to find a honey bee farm close to you. Why bother? There are several great reasons to buy your honey locally. Let’s start with the flavor of the honey...
If you’re used to the highly processed stuff they usually sell in grocery stores, you’re in for a treat when you taste some REAL honey!
What do I mean by ‘real honey?’
I mean honey that hasn’t been over-processed and over-cooked, with much of the natural goodness and flavor pressure-filtered out.
Honey that’s not a blend of cheap honeys sourced from who-knows-where.
Honey that’s as unaltered as possible, straight from the hive.
‘Real’ honey is the kind of honey that your local honey bee farm probably specializes in, and the only way you’ll be able to get fresher, better tasting honey is to take up beekeeping yourself (which isn’t a bad idea, by the way!).
And most honey bee farms offer raw honey for sale.
Raw honey, in case you don’t know, is completely unprocessed. It’s not heated, and it’s not highly filtered. (Here’s more info about raw honey if you’re interested.)
You’ll Be Supporting Your Local Beekeepers
By buying local, you’ll be supporting your local beekeepers. Why is that a big deal? Because your local beekeepers support your local bees.
As you’ve likely heard, honey bees have been having some problems lately. For a variety of reasons, bees have been on the decline in recent years. And since bees help to produce about a third of the foods we consume, the honey bee decline is really bad news for anyone who likes to eat!
But the beekeepers at your local honey bee farm are working hard to keep their bees healthy, and to assure that your local bees remain a healthy and dynamic component of nature.
Quite simply, we all need a strong, healthy local bee population; the honey bees need the help of your local beekeepers; and your local beekeepers could use your support.
And you’ll get some of the healthiest, best-tasting honey you’ve ever had. A good deal for all concerned (including the bees!).
But Don’t Limit Yourself to ONLY Local Flavor…
Many of the honey producers sell honey online, or take phone orders for shipment. You don’t have to drive out to the honey bee farm to buy your honey, you can have it shipped right to you.
So while you’ll probably want to buy most of your honey locally, why not try out some of the unique and exotic honey flavors available from other locales?
Maybe sample some thick and rich buckwheat honey. Or maybe some distinctive tupelo honey from the swamplands. Or perhaps some citrusy orange blossom honey.
