Honey Butter

Nothing like honey butter spread on hot toast for a great start to the day! Coffee and cream, peanut butter and jelly, cookies and milk; all are wonderful combinations. But are there any two ingredients that go together more naturally than honey and butter?

Why Use It?

Well, do you ever get frustrated trying to add honey and butter separately to your toast or biscuit? If you spread on the butter first, it melts and then is pushed aside as you drizzle the honey on. But if you put the honey on first, it’s hard to spread the butter all around without pushing the honey off of the side. So then you’ve got honey running off onto your fingers, and to add insult to injury, your butter knife is now sticky! Isn’t life cruel?

Avoid all that frustration by combining the butter with the honey beforehand into a smooth, fluffy, spreadable concoction.

If you don’t want to purchase it ready-made, it’s certainly easy to make your own. Simply mix softened butter with your favorite honey at about a 3 to 1 ratio, and then refrigerate. You can experiment with the butter/honey ratio, and also with adding other ingredients such as cinnamon, vanilla, or lemon zest.

Or if you’d like to go beyond just a basic honey and butter combo, you might want to try some of these recipes.
