Honey Facts: the Interesting, the Important, and the Slightly Repulsive!

All of the honey facts presented here are interesting – or at least I think so (and hopefully you will too). But the facts about how bees make honey are interesting with a bit of a twist (of the stomach!).

Honey has been used, of course, for thousands of years. Long before we knew about the benefits of honey bees as pollinators, we prized them for their honey and wax. Throughout history, honey has been a cherished and valued commodity – and it’s been used in some really strange ways, too!

In recent years, raw honey and organic honey have been gaining in popularity. And do you know why many people feel that they are benefited by eating local honey?

Everyone knows that honey is a wonderful sweetener, but it’s more than just a pretty taste. Instead of simply providing empty calories, honey actually has a bit of nutritional heft to it!

And if you have a child less than a year old (or if you know someone who does), you’ll want to learn about honey and the risk of infant botulism.
