Problems from already having given honey to a baby?
hi I've a 2yr old baby girl. From the day of her birth her grandparents gave 1 tablespoon of honey (kottakkal arya vydyasala) daily rubbed with gold. After 6 months she has little weight gain. I stopped giving honey for the last 6 months. Now she's only 9.8 kg. Her birth weight was 3.3 kg. Any problem with the intake of honey?

Hi,
Since I'm not a doctor, I'm not qualified to say whether honey had any effect upon the present weight of your child.
But my guess would be that honey was not a factor. If your child had been having problems with infant botulism due to consuming honey, the symptoms probably would have been more serious than just slow weight gain. But again, I'm not qualified to make a judgment about that.
I can tell you that at 2 years of age, your child is now beyond the age range that experts recommend avoiding honey. You may have other reasons for not giving her honey now, but according to conventional wisdom, infant botulism should no longer be a concern.
If you're concerned about the current state of your child's health, then of course you should have her examined by a doctor.
My best wishes for you and your child.
