Because if you have read lots of sales pitches like the one above, it’s likely that you really are interested in finding an online, work-at-home opportunity. And if that’s the case, you might be interested in the remainder of this ‘sales pitch.’

Because quite honestly, I believe that the promises of those opening paragraphs are absolutely possible.

And if you’ll look through the pages of this website you’ll see evidence of many hours of hard work – MY hard work – that proves I believe it.

The Process of Building an Online Business

I’ve spent hundreds of hours working on this site. I expect to spend hundreds of additional hours working on this site in the future.

What’s my motivation for all of that hard work?

Well, part of it is because I’ve been involved with honey bees for most of my life, and consider them to be fascinating and vitally important creatures.

But in all honesty, I wouldn’t invest such a huge amount of time and effort only because I like honey bees. I do it because I also like the idea of building an online business that will earn money for me year after year, for many years to come.

But How do Websites Make Money?

It’s really pretty simple.

If you’ve already visited a page or two on this site, I hope you found the information you were looking for. I hope that you found my site to be interesting and informative, and worth the time you spent here.

While you were visiting, you probably noticed some ads.

Most likely you just ignored the ads and focused on the content that drew you here. That’s what most visitors do.

But occasionally, an ad will contain an item of interest to a visitor, and that visitor will click on the ad. When that happens, I get paid a small amount of money from the advertiser.

And on some of the pages, there are links to products that are for sale at someplace like Amazon.com. The products are always relevant to the content of the page, and again, most visitors just ignore them.

But every once in a while, that product will be just what my visitor is looking for. He or she clicks over to the seller’s website, buys the product, and I’m paid a small commission from the seller.

And here’s what I really love about it…

It’s a Win-Win for All Involved

Because if you visit my site wanting to learn something about, let’s say, starting a beehive, and read through the pages I’ve written about the topic, hopefully you’ll have found the information you were seeking.

If not, I’ll be disappointed, because I’ve worked hard to provide that information for you.

While you’re reading the information I’ve provided, if you choose to ignore the ads and product links – and again, that’s exactly what most people do – then that’s absolutely fine. I’m grateful and flattered that you chose to visit my website. And I hope you’ll come again.

Because, you see, we’ve both benefited from your visit: You were entertained by visiting my website, and found the information you were seeking (I hope!). And your visit to my website helped boost my traffic numbers, which in turn will help to attract additional visitors.

But if you spotted an ad that piqued your interest, and clicked on it, or found a product that you wanted, and bought it, then it was to the benefit of everyone involved. The advertiser’s message was communicated – a message that may have been of interest to you. Or the merchant’s product was sold, and you got a product that you wanted or needed.

And I made a bit of money in return for all of the hard work of providing the free content that attracted you to my website.

But no one was given a hard sell, and no one was coerced into spending time or money they didn’t want to spend. It was truly a win-win for everyone involved.

My Website’s Not Making Me Rich…

And I don’t expect that it ever will.

In fact, at the time of this writing, my Bees and Beekeeping site is about a year and a half old, and it’s biggest money making day so far brought in a bit over $10. On average, it’s making about $4 per day.

Doesn’t exactly knock your socks off, does it?

But here’s the thing: My website makes that money with an average of just under 200 visitors per day. Now that’s not a lot of traffic. But lots of websites never manage to get even half that much traffic.

(UPDATE - 1 year later: Close to 600 visitors per day. Biggest money making day has been about $40, with a daily average of roughly $15. Still won't knock your socks off, but improving and continuing to grow!)

As my traffic continues to increase, so will my earnings. And my young site is seeing increasing traffic on a regular basis.

Over the last 6 months, the average number of daily visitors to my site has increased by 60%.

Why is that important?

Because to make money online your site must bring in traffic – LOTS of traffic.

No matter how hard you work on a website, no matter how much time you pour into it, it will all be for nothing if you can’t get traffic.
